Running your own business can be a lonely exercise. As business owners we’re expected to have all the answers and to know what actions to take to keep our businesses on track. But the reality is very different… None of us have all the answers and we all face situations where we really don’t know what to do and end up “flying by the seat of our pants”.

To make matters worse, most of us (and I include myself in this category) can be reticent to ask for advice and guidance… it feels like we’re admitting that we’re not up to the job.

It doesn’t have to be this way. There’s nothing wrong with admitting that we don’t have all the answers… In fact I’d argue that it’s actually a strength to know what our limitations are.

That’s where working with a coach on a one to one basis or as part of a coaching or mastermind group can be hugely beneficial. Having someone look in from the outside with no preconceived ideas as to what’s right or wrong can really help us refine our ideas and plans, and the best coaches even hold us accountable for doing the things that we say we’re going to do. Working within a coaching or mastermind group can also be huge fun. I run a group like this.. it comprises a number of like minded businesses owners, who share challenges and potential solutions and hold us all accountable for keeping our promises.

Sure…. It’s a challenging environment, but it’s also great fun, and the team spirit that develops over a remarkably short space of time provides the support that we all need from time to time.

But don’t just take my word for it… Here’s what some of the participants have said about their experience:

“ I came away really positive. Thank for all your help”

“Thank you to everyone for a very productive and positive day”

“Just wanted to say thank you very much for today! It was truly great to see you all again and I feel inspired and motivated”

An my favourite – but of course, I’m biased…

“Thanks a million Phil for all your support! You’re amazing and I do value all that you do (and no, I haven’t had a drink haha)”

So if you’re finding running your business lonely or challenging, then maybe I can help you as well.
