On Saturday I watched a Disneyesque movie in which a girl who’d moved to a new country when she was two, managed to qualify for the US Open Tennis Tournament, played 10 matches over three weeks, didn’t lose a single set and emerged victorious at the grand old age of 18.
Except it wasn’t a movie.
Neither was it the fairy tale that some elements of the media seem to be making it, nor was it a story of overnight success.
In reality, it was a story of a strong woman, driven by a passion for something she loves doing, supported by a close family and a coach, Andrew Richardson, who’s been working with her for ten years helping her to achieve her dream.
More than that, this weekend’s final was a story of TWO incredibly strong women, both striving for success.
Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez can, and should be an inspiration to us all.
Running a business is no different. It takes hard work over many years. It requires a supportive network of friends, family and sometimes coaches who help us improve. It takes commitment and persistence.
Overnight successes are rarely that.
Do you need a coach in your support network to help you become an overnight success? Maybe we can help.
